Kings Bay Y at Windsor Terrace summer camp staff are committed to meeting the individual needs of each camper. Our ratio of children to staff is 13 campers to every 3 counselors. Our assistant head counselors are 16-17 years old, our head counselors are ages 18 and older and our group leaders are ages 20 and older. Specialists lead programs such as yoga, dance, self-defense, drama, archery and more. Everyone is dedicated to the mission of our camps and look forward to creating unforgettable memories for children and their parents.
Ilona Zeltser has been with the Kings Bay Y for five years. She has worked her way up from an after-school counselor to floor supervisor and finally to the position the camp director. Ilona is very excited for her second year as the camp director and is working on bringing more family engagement events and programming to the Kings Bay Y. Ilona holds a BA in English Literature with a concentration in law and a minor in philosophy. She is fluent in Russian and enjoys spending time with her nephew, reading and photography in her spare time.
Gilad Kalifa is an Israeli theater director, producer and screenwriter for musical and dramatic theatre. He has written, directed, and produced several independent theatrical productions, and has written the original musical scores to accompany them. As comfortable in front of the camera as he is behind it, Gilad has had roles in nineteen productions as an actor, singer and dancer. In addition to owning and operating his own recording studio in Israel, Gilad is a talented musician in his own right, playing the guitar, piano, drums (and other various percussion instruments) and the harmonica. Passionate about his craft, in his spare time Gilad collaboratively volunteers with staff and student body for local high school productions and teaches music pro-bono at various nursing homes and schools for the disabled in Israel.
Daniel Zeltser, Associate Executive Director at the Kings Bay Y, has been with the Y for over 12 years and has played an instrumental role in the agency’s tremendous growth under the leadership of Executive Director Leonard Petlakh. Daniel first began his relationship with the Y as a volunteer. He served as supervisor of the after-school program and moved up to Summer Camp Director, the Programs Director and finally to his current position. Daniel received his BA in International Criminal Justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice with a double-minor in Psychology and Legal Translations. Through the years, he’s worked closely on projects as varied as greening efforts and intercultural and inter-religious partnerships with various communities. He is a recipient of the 2012 Ted Comet Young Professional Award of the Jewish Communal Service Association of North America. During his free time Daniel enjoys the company of his wife and dogs, mixed martial arts, reading, camping, and experimental cooking.
Alina Migirov is very excited to join the Kings Bay Y team! She is currently a Junior in the Macaulay Honors program at CUNY City College, studying behavioral neuroscience. She has a passion for community organizing, volunteering, and engaging in meaningful learning experiences. In her free time, Alina enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with her loved ones. She is looking forward to contributing to the Kings Bay Y family.
Dunia Elbassiony- Camp Supervisor
Dunia Elbassiony attends Long Island University and lives in Brooklyn. She has been a part of the Kings Bay Y family for five years. Dunia began her career at the Kings Bay Y as an assistant counselor in summer camp, moved up to head counselor for two years and eventually became a supervisor at our Windsor Terrace location. She also worked at the Y’s after-school and Sunday Fun Day programs and has volunteered at many of our children’s events. Dunia is thrilled about her new position as Summer Camp supervisor at Windsor Terrace. In her spare time, Dunia loves cooking and playing sports such as basketball and volleyball.
Nora Elbassiony is a Senior Exercise Science Pre-Physical Therapy student at Adelphi University. She is an aspiring physical therapist and loves to exercise and help others stay active! She has been working with the Kings Bay Y since she was 17 years old, doing many different programs such as Sunday Fun Day, basketball clinics, after-school, sports camp, marketing, and many more. She is looking forward to building and growing with the Kings Bay Y Windsor Terrace family and friends!
